It’s finally here – the time of year that you countdown to, the time of year that you look forward to, the time of year that you can finally relax – the time of year that you go on vacation! July and August are prime months for family vacations, and let’s face it, we all deserve a break!

Did you know?
- 59% of people plan on taking a summer vacation
- July is the most popular month for vacationing
- 3-4 days is the average vacation length
- 39% of people plan to stay in their home state while vacationing
- 33% of those traveling this summer have not taken a vacation since last summer!
Returning home from vacation should be a pleasant experience. You should feel rejuvenated – not stressed out about what awaits you when you walk in the door to your house.
Here are some easy tasks to complete before you leave for vacation in order to make your arrival home a pleasant one:

Clean out the fridge and take out the trash.
This will eliminate rotting foods and bad odors.
You’ll most likely be hungry when you get home. Buy some non-perishable snacks and drinks for hassle-free snacking.
Tidy up.
Returning to a messy home can really ruin that vacation-feeling. Do the laundry, clean the dishes, make the beds and vacuum before you leave. You’ll be happy that you did – walking into a clean house is walking into a happy house.
Stop to smell the air freshener.
Leave an air freshener in your home. This will help fight off any stale smells that can form when your home’s windows and doors remain closed.
Arrange for plant care.
Dead plants can be a downer – arrange for care for any indoor and/or outdoor plants.
