How To Set Up Government Alerts On Your Cell Phone

Having alerts come through on your phone in real time can keep you informed and safe. Here is how to set up the alerts if you haven’t done so already:

How to control Government Alerts on your iPhone:

  1. Launch the Settings app on your iPhone.
  2. Tap on Notifications and scroll all the way to the bottom.
  3. Under the Government Alerts section, toggle Government Alerts option on or off to enable or disable them.

How to control Government Alerts on your Android:

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Click on the ‘More’ option under the Wireless & Networks section, and scroll down to the Cell Broadcasts settings.
  3. You will be able to enable or disable notifications for extreme threats, severe threats, and Amber Alerts.
    (If you can’t find the emergency alert option in your Android phone’s settings, open the Messaging application and look for the option in the messaging settings.)
