Don’t Forget To Fall Back This Weekend
Can you believe it? It’s already time to turn back the clocks!
Use that extra hour of sleep on Saturday night to get some important tasks done around your home on Sunday. Here is a ‘fall back this weekend’ checklist of essential household to-dos:

- Check Your Detectors
Change the batteries in both your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. Test them after the new batteries are installed.
- Winterize Plumbing
The cold temperatures have arrived. Winterize all of your home’s exterior plumbing before faucets, spigots or pipes are damaged.
- Clear The Gutters
Remove the dirt and debris from your gutters to keep the water flowing while minimizing the potential for ice damage.
- Remove Screens
Unfortunately, the season of opening your windows is behind us. Pack your screens away to protect them during the winter months.
- Change Light Bulbs
The nights are getting longer. Test out your exterior lighting fixtures and change out any burnt out or damaged light bulbs.
- Swap The Filter(s)
The beginning of November is the perfect time to change the filters in your home’s heating system for cleaner, more efficient heat.
- De-Lint The Dryer Vent
Clean out the exterior exhaust hose on your dryer. The lint build up is a fire hazard. Be sure to unplug the dryer first.
- Clean The Oven
Holiday cooking is around the corner. Run your oven on the ‘cleaning’ cycle over the weekend.
- Change The Fans
Switch your ceiling fans so that they run clockwise, pushing warm air down for your comfort.
